OBJECTIVE: Electronics / Embedded Software Engineering Manager or Team Leader

SKILLS:

MANAGEMENT / LEADERSHIP; My most valuable skill is the ability to manage complex technology. I understand how to get the best out of engineers and programmers, and I have a proven track record of bringing in projects on time and under budget.

HARDWARE DESIGN; I am an expert in all areas of electronics, including analog, digital, microcontroller, high-power, low-power, high volume, aerospace and consumer electronics. I am not a mechanical engineer, but I am experienced in managing MEs.

EMBEDDED SOFTWARE DESIGN; I have extensive experience managing embedded software projects using C, C++ and assembly. and I am a fairly good microcontroller assembly-language programmer. Having managed the creation of many software-based products, I am very much aware of the common pitfalls that cause projects to fail and how to avoid them.

PCs AND LOCAL AREA NETWORKS; I have reasonably good skills administering small (departmental level) Local Area Networks and am an expert at networking robotic systems and test racks. While I am not seeking a network administrator position, I am a good choice for a small company that requires someone to manage product development and to administer the network. I have also made it my business to be an expert on viruses, malware and antispam measures.

INTERNET; I have been involved in the technical standards side of the Internet since it was created, I am the moderator of a Usenet newsgroup devoted to the business side of product development, a Wikipedia editor for various electronics-related topics, and I have a lot of experience optimizing websites for high search engine ranking -- as can be seen by searching Google for [ Electrical Engineer Resume ] and seeing which resume comes out on top.

DESIGN ENGINEER: Various Clients - 07-2001 to 10-2005; Working as a consultant, I did contract work for Various Clients, including a Heart monitor for the ABC television network game show "The Chair", a 60V/60V split phase balanced power system for a a recording studio, and a cryptographic atomic-decay random number generator.

PROJECT ENGINEER/MANAGER: Mattel - 02-2000 to 07-2001; I was the project manager / engineer for Diva Starz, Mattel's best selling new toy for the year 2000. I managed a sixteen person, two city design team that brought the product from the original concept at high-volume manufacturing in China.

PROJECT MANAGER: Disc Manufacturing Inc. - 09-1997 to 02-2000; I was the project leader in charge of developing a rewritable DVD replication line, managing a team of six Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, and Software engineers.

ELECTRONIC PROJECT ENGINEER: SMC Pneumatics - 10-1995 to 08-1997; I was the senior EE for USA operations, and designed electronic controls for pneumatics, servos, chillers as well as a Internet-enabled remote diagnostic system. I spent over a year training engineers in Japan, teaching them how to develop microcontroller-based embedded systems.

CONSULTANT: Various clients - 01-1993 to 10-1995; I designed a gas analyzer/smog tester for Snap-on tools, Inc. that included a chemiluminescent nitric-oxide sensor and flame-ionization hydrocarbon sensor. I Supervised acceptance testing for the smog tester at the General Motors proving ground in Phoenix and at the State of California air-quality equipment test center in Sacramento.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER: Parker Hannifin - 09-1986 to 01-1993; I designed automated electrohydraulic-actuator test systems digital load-curve generators, and other aerospace acceptance testing and qualification testing equipment.
